Circulation weather types as a key factor on runoff initiation and sediment detachment in Mediterranean shrublands

چکیده

In this research, the circulation weather types (CWTs) associated with individual surface pressure data at different atmospheric heights were used to correlate and quantify soil erosion events collecting loss (g m-2), runoff (l m-2) sediment concentration L-1) using field plots collectors. Representative Mediterranean shrubland, located Sierra de Enguera (Eastern Spain), was as a case study where 213 rainfall episodes related recorded for 2010-2014 period. Average annual precipitation of 544 mm registered, summarizing total 2,720.1 five years research A 34.4% registered ranged from 10 29.9 mm, 23.5% 30 49.9 15.9% 50 99.9 mm. The dynamic low-pressure fronts (DLp+f) CWT found generate highest amount reaching 60.6% (105 events). Over third (35%) occurred during Eastern CWT, which accounted 48% average values 17.6 per event. From runoff, 65.6% combined cold drops (CD) CWT. DLp+f produce 48.9% mobilization, 73.5% generated by event southern under thermal (TLp) 51.65 g L-1, followed (anticyclones) (42.23 L-1). As whole, is generating (28.66 L-1), Easter Our findings suggest that CWTs contribute foreseeing periods losses may help prevent them. We discuss need analyse changes in rates due better characterize process assess rates, improve current models investigate how climate change changing role plays initiation delivery.

Circulation weather types as a tool in atmospheric, climate, and environmental research

Citation: Ramos AM, Barriopedro D and Dutra E (2015) Circulation weather types as a tool in atmospheric, climate, and environmental research. Classifications of circulation weather systems have a long history in meteorology and climatology. Starting with manual classifications (Hess and Brezowsky, 1952; Lamb, 1972) over specific regions of the globe, these tools (generally called " catalogs of ...

Restoration of mediterranean-type woodlands and shrublands

There are only five mediterranean-climate regions (MCRs) on Earth – the Mediterranean Basin, most of California, central Chile, southern South Africa, and south-central and south-western Australia. They all have cool, or cold, and relatively wet winters alternating with long, hot, and dry summers. Spring and autumn seasons are ephemeral in comparison, and highly variable. During much of the yea...

STAT3 as a Key Factor in Tumor Microenvironment and Cancer Stem Cell

Background Recent studies revealed that tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play a decisive role in the regulation of tumor progression by manipulating tumor oncogenesis, angiogenesis and immune functions within tumor microenvironments. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), which is a point of convergence for numerous oncogenic signalling pathways, is constitutively activ...

Inflammation, a Key Factor in Cancer Ambush

Inflammatory condition is the consequence of defensive mechanism of immune system against viral and bacterial infection, tissue injury, UV radiation, stress and etc. Persistently acute inflammation leads to chronic phase which is characterized by production of pro-inflammatory mediators from T cells. These molecules (e.g. IL-6, TNF-&alpha, IL-1&beta and IL-17) are mostly pleiotropic cytokines i...

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
